Imam Abdulaziz holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences and received a traditional Islamic education in Morocco. After retiring from Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he worked on projects such as nuclear waste disposal, contamination cleanup, and nuclear non-proliferation diplomacy, he graduated from the Hartford seminary Muslim chaplaincy
he dedicated his efforts to promoting cultural understanding and interfaith harmony in the U.S. since his arrival in 1979.
He co-founded the first American Muslim-Jewish Dialogue and led a peace-seeking delegation to Morocco and the Middle East in 1998. Currently, he is the USA and Canada coordinator of Palomar.org (a pan-Arab organization to rebuild Palestine). He is Chairman of the Board of the Ibn Asheer Institute for Islamic Studies and has held various leadership roles in interfaith councils, including the Santa Fe Interfaith Leadership Alliance. He is also a signatory of “A Common Word Among Us.”
Imam Abdulaziz has served as a Friday Khatib at mosques in the UAE and currently delivers Friday sermons at several mosques, including Masjid Assabour and Jamai Majid in Las Vegas, as well as PMA Mountain View in California and MAH Hawaii. His passion lies in fostering an environment where future generations of Americans Muslims can succeed while maintaining strong ties to their cultural and Islamic heritage.
